NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS
Interacts with YESCO clients, sales people, project and production managers and management
Maintains contact with sales executives to help them understand possible issues and methods to solve them, ability to convey sometimes complicated engineering concepts so they can communicate with customers in clear terms which often helps finalize the sale.
Contact with estimators requires the same ability to convey the design intent and help them establish accurate pricing. On more complicated projects, it is helpful to take the leadership role and guide the project from survey to installation. Communication and interaction skills are absolutely necessary when talking to other engineers and architects to persuade them to share their drawings when they normally wouldn’t, which in turn saves us time and money or communicating our need for specific members in certain places on the building so we can easily mount or signage. An example of a key customer interaction is that a customer (building owner) calls and wonders what would happen to the structure if they raised the sign, changed some components, etc. Other engineers would typically want to know what kind of load our signage would add to their building. They always appreciate a quick answer, which in turn helps secure the contract or get priority treatment when bids are reviewed and awarded.
